From October 9 to 11, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) held the 2025 International Young Scholars Conference on “TCM+” Cross-disciplinary Innovation Research at the Lecture Hall of the Library on the Binwen Campus. Wang Bin, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZCMU, and Wen Chengping, Vice President of ZCMU, attended the conference.

At the opening ceremony, Secretary Wang Bin extended a warm welcome to the experts and young scholars. He noted that at a time when science and technology are advancing rapidly and global health needs are becoming increasingly diverse, it is essential to promote the deep integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with modern science and multidisciplinary fields. He emphasized that leveraging cutting-edge technologies to explore the scientific connotations of TCM and adopting interdisciplinary approaches to expand its application boundaries are not only inherent requirements for the development of TCM itself, but also China’s response to global health challenges, a contribution to enriching the world’s medical systems, and a meaningful step toward building a community of shared future for global health.

Wang Bin highlighted that ZCMU attaches great importance to “TCM+” interdisciplinary innovation research. The university is committed to improving its “TCM+ talent system”, strengthening the disciplinary foundation of “TCM+”, accelerating the construction of scientific and technological innovation platforms, and fostering the development of a “TCM+” industrial cluster. He expressed gratitude to all experts and young scholars for their concern and support for ZCMU and welcomed valuable suggestions for the university’s future growth and development.

Vice President Wen Chengping introduced ZCMU’s profile and its progress toward building a world-class university of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He stated that the conference aims to establish a high-level, international, and interdisciplinary academic exchange platform to bring together wisdom and strength to advance “TCM+” innovative research. He also encouraged experts and scholars to engage in in-depth discussions and jointly promote the inheritance, innovation, and development of TCM.

Over 30 experts and scholars from universities including the University of Toronto, Western University (Canada), University of Illinois System (USA), Peking University, Zhejiang University, and Fudan University participated in the conference. Attendees engaged in active academic discussions and exchanges on topics including the current status, development trends, and future prospects of interdisciplinary innovation in TCM.
