Recently, Professor Chen Zhong, President of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU), was invited to attend the induction ceremony of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) Fellow and received the letter of appointment.

At the concurrent AIMBE Annual Event, Professor Chen shared his important research findings that showcased ZCMU’s international academic impact on neuropharmacology and related disciplines. He said his election as an AIMBE Fellow reflects a high degree of recognition from international peers for his research findings. He also stated plans to further deepen global academic exchanges, advance cutting-edge research in neuropharmacology, and contribute to enhancing ZCMU’s influence in the fields of medical and biological engineering.

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., AIMBE is one of the most influential academic organizations of medical and biological engineering. Election as an AIMBE Fellow is the highest academic distinction awarded by the Institute, recognizing the top 2% of scholars in the field through a rigorous process of international peer nomination and review. In 2024, only 9 scientists from Chinese mainland were elected. Professor Chen was honored for his groundbreaking achievements in cell-specific neuropharmacology targeting epilepsy and central histaminergic mechanisms. Moving forward, ZCMU will intensify efforts to promote the research progress of neuropharmacology and related disciplines, foster the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and modern biological medicine, and develop a broader space for international cooperation.
