    News|President Chen Zhong Visited Marshall University

    Recently, Chen Zhong, President of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) visited Marshall University (MU) in the U.S. The visit aimed to deepen the academic exchanges between the two institutions, develop the mutual cooperation in pharmaceutical health and life science, and promote projects on the memorandum of cooperation signed by the two sides in 2024.



    During the visit, President Chen Zhong had an official meeting with Professor Avinandan Mukherjee, Provost and Senior Vice President of MU and the core team members of the university. President Chen provided a detailed introduction to ZCMU’s advantages of research in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), pharmaceutical sciences and health sciences, highlighting the latest progress and results of TCM basic theory research, new drug research and development, extraction and identification of active ingredients of Chinese herbs, innovation of clinical techniques and AI-driven pharmaceutical health. Both sides discussed in depth the deeper inter-university cooperation to explore the specific paths for collaboration in global health, medical technology and academic exchanges. Centering on global health research, life sciences and precision medicine, the two sides engaged in comprehensive discussions. Based on respective strengths, they exchanged views on collaboration frameworks, including joint education, postgraduates co-training, faculty exchange, lessons shared, coordinated applications for international research fund and co-organization of international academic conferences.



    They also held a global health institute academic symposium where President Chen delivered an academic report titled “Role of Histamine and Its Receptors in Brain.” He shared the latest research findings and introduced the interdisciplinary research directions between neuroscience and public health. During the visit, he also toured the School of Pharmacy of MU.
